The next meeting of the APPG Taxation will be between 11.30am - 12.30pm on Tuesday 9th July 2019 in Room C, 1 Parliament Street.
We are delighted to have Jesse Norman MP, newly appointed Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Paymaster General, speaking at this meeting. He was appointed as Paymaster General and Financial Secretary to the Treasury on 23 May 2019 and was previously Minister of State at the Department for Transport from November 2018 to May 2019. Before that, he was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport from June 2017 to November 2018.
Mr Norman also served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from 18 July 2016 until 14 June 2017. During the 2010 to 2015 Parliament he was a member of the Treasury Select Committee and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Employee Ownership. In June 2015 he was elected Chair of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. He was awarded Spectator Parliamentarian of the Year and The House Backbencher of the Year in 2012; and was elected as the MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire in May 2010.
Mr Norman will be focusing on the following topics at the meeting:
Overview of Budget 2018 and Spring Statement 2019 taxation legislation and rates;
Impact of Brexit deal / no deal scenarios on UK's taxation system;
Global tax rules for the digital age (reforms to the international corporate tax framework for digital businesses); and
Future of taxation under a new Government / post-Brexit (including Gig Economy, taxation of digital businesses, tax simplification, and VAT reform options)
